My research priorities focus is on the relationship between economic agents. The economic environment changes due the innovation and knowledge evolution is the most important area that drives my professional and academic career. Thus, with the analysis of long-life training in the distribution channels, I learn to contribute to the knowledge about the relations between the leading companies and the different members of the chain of consumer goods. In addition, I am interested in analyzing citizen behavior in different economic contexts, like the consumer in front of retail and marketing. My professional experience includes
managerial positions. Active advising to large multinational corporations and SME’s about tools for automation, new technologies, data synchronization, electronic data exchange, etc.
As an economist, I actively follow the business world in Europe and around the world; and the analysis of people's behavior in the context of the environment changes, and the implications in the business including marketing strategies. This line of research began with the development of my doctoral thesis and continued expanding during my post-doctoral research and stays.I got my graduation in Economy at UAB in 1979. In addition, My Ph.D. was in 2013 by analyzing the retail leaders with a thesis that investigated long-life training in the European market. Professional career serving more than 15 years, as Technical Director and executive
board member in AECOC (GS1 Spain), with responsibilities in International Committees that have impact worldwide following the creation of international standards for automatic identification, and for electronic information exchange. Some managerial responsibilities include Country Manager in a Multinational Software Company providing services for Data Synchronization to companies participating in different levels of the chain, and other services. I´m nowadays a Country developer in a multinational company about bar code quality. This activity combined with the position of associated professor at the COLBS and UAB, covering marketing, retailing, marketing strategies, and business in action topics. I am teaching for study abroad and local students, and I am the director of a Master in Business management addressed to students with some years of experience. Furthermore, I regularly write articles in local journals and economic magazines, and becoming an AECOC academia active member in many events collaborating in actions to promote the young talent capture for the FMCG sector.

Dr. Hiram José Irizarry Osorio has an M.A. (1999) and a Ph.D. (2005) in Political Science from The Ohio State University and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico (Mayagüez Campus). He is originally from Puerto Rico, but since 2009 resides in Catalonia. His teaching emphasizes development issues, the inter-/intra-relation between ideation & materiality (quantum possibilities), and the inter-/intrarelation between religion & politics (lately throughout the Mediterranean). He writes in his leisure time (mostly short-stories and poetry in Spanish) and has published two books out of this passion: Muslo Eunuco: Ambigua Certeza & Enamorada Confusión. His main interest lies in using those inherited constructed divisions among humans to underscore their lived effects and open possibilities of different realities (in fiction and social practices). He loves to learn languages. He is fluent in Spanish, Catalan, and English, has decaying fluency in Portuguese, and since 2011 is a student of Arabic (i.e., a work-in progress)
