This is just a simple procedure which is done in a Saturday or Sunday. The participant just crosses the border and comes back again with a new 60-day permit to stay in the country. The particpant will have to do this 2 times during the academic year, at the end of June and at the end of August.
COUNTRIES WITH BILATERIAL AGREEMENTS WITH THAILAND ( NO VISA NEEDED)
Partipants holding a passport from Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Chile and South Korea typically can enter into Thailand without visa and stay in the Kingdom up to 90 days.
PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the participant responsibility to apply for METV Visa and provide the Embassy with the required documentation on time. The participant does not need any documentation from us but each Thai Embassy could ask for other documents to grant the TV-Visa. Some examples are: proof of hotels-accommodation paid or booked, return flight, covid vaccination, bank statement with funds, etc.

TO CONTACT MY THAI EMBASSY

1. Go to this link https://www.thaiembassy.org/en/index

2. Contact with the Thai Embassy located in your country and ask by email or call about documentation needed for the METV Visa.

3. If your country does not have an Embassy, no problem. Find the closest country to yours and go to that link. Typically one Embassy covers the jurisdiction of several small sized neighbouring countries.

In case of doubt or if you are not sure send email to the Thai Embassy and ask them or ask us directly by email at admissions@colbs-ac.uk

WHEN SHOULD I START WITH THE VISA PROCESS? Student visa processing times vary from country to country and may take as little as one week to two months. We recommend that you start the process as early as possible to guarantee your arrival before the start date of your programme. You should contact the Thai embassy or consulate in your region for more information about when to start the procedure.

CAN I WORK IN THAILAND WITH A TOURIST VISA? METV-VISA does not allow students to work. To be able to work you should get a work permit which is obtained in case a company wants to hire you. Foreigners need a work permit after their studies to stay in the Kinddom and this is issued when a Thai company shows interest in you. Students are allowed to search for a job and make business contacts while in Thailand.

CAN COLBS HELP ME WITH THE VISA APPLICATION PROCESS? Our admissions team will provide you support with the visa application process whenever necessary, however, you will need to apply for your visa in person at the nearest Thai  consulate in your region.

HOW LONG DOES THE TOURIST VISA ALLOWS ME TO STAY IN THAILAND?  Your METV-VISA will be issued for the duration of 6 months. After 60 days it must be renovated.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY VISA APPLICATION IS REFUSED? Move to the "flexible program" option so you can enroll in some courses only or do the whole cycle of the 2 terms online.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY BOOKING FEE IF I DONT´T GET MY VISA? The booking fee is included in the tuition fees and deducted from future payments. If the students finally does not attend to the course for any reason then the fee is non-refundable.

WHAT IF MY COUNTRY DOES NOT HAVE A THAI EMBASSY OR CONSULATE?
No problem. Then you need to find the closest Thai embassy in neighbouring countries (this is quite normal, since sometimes embassies offer service centralized service only in one country wich covers several ones). Visit the Embassy website, send them email or call them asking for information. Most procedures can be done by post, courier and many times does not request you to be in person. You can have access to a list of Thai embassies here

IMPORTANT MESSAGE! To avoid problems we recommend that students make sure they comply with all requirements indicated in the Thai immigration code provided by the Thai Embassy /Consulate in their country of origin.
